Methodology
In the
development of its IP cores, CommStack adheres to a rigorous iterative
design process that typically involves the following steps:
- Requirements
definition –
clear understanding of the project objectives and development of the
specifications
- Analysis and simulation – mathematical
modeling of key algorithms and the simulation of modules using such
tools as MATLAB, C, Simulink, etc.
- Development
– initially targeted to PLDs or FPGAs to allow rapid validation (Altera
products and Altera HDL have typically been preferred), with the
result then converted to a Verilog netlist and its associated test
vectors to support IP transfer
- Validation – performance is measured against the specifications
through simulation, test of the FPGA implementation, and/or
integration and test with other components
